The Billing Specialist Private Pay is responsible and accountable for the assigned facility(ies) accounting functions under the direction of the Regional Business Services Manager and The Goodman Group in accordance with federal, state and local generally accepted accounting principles.  The Billing Specialist Private Pay provides assistance to residents and family members, facility personnel, The Goodman Group or third party administrators as requested or required to maintain timely and accurate billing cycles, reporting schedules and cash flows.

 

Billing Specialist Private Pay Functions

  1. Carries out all job duties following the established Regional Accounting Office policies and practices consistent with the mission and philosophy of the facility.
  2. Responsible for promoting a safe work environment.
  3. Demonstrates an attitude of collaboration, cooperation and collegiality by the use of excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills and a spirit of team play in order to assure high quality out comes in all areas of responsibility.

     4.Maintains and promotes a strict level of confidentiality regarding residents and facility issues consistent with the Regional Accounting Office Policies and Resident Rights.

  1. Attends and represents the Regional Accounting Office at meetings as designated.
  2. Responsible for maintaining and updating subsidiary resident listings for special handling of statements.
  3. Responsible for posting census daily for assigned facilities into computer and balancing manual census reports.
  4. Responsible for posting all ancillary charges for assigned facilities.
  5. Maintains assigned facility trust bank accounts and disburses funds in accordance with all state and federal regulations.  Monitors and notifies responsible parties when funds are within $200.00 of maximum levels in accordance with state and federal regulations.  Refunds all trust accounts to the proper parties within 30 days of discharge.
  6. Completes all phases of balances and checks to close out month and begin statement process for assigned facilities by the last work day of the month.
  7. Responsible for compilation and organization of monthly packet information by the 10th of each month, six month audit information and year end reports and audit information associated with cash and assigned facilities by the recorded due dates.
  8. Responsible for billing, posting of payments and adjustments, and assisting in the monitoring of the collections of accounts receivable for assigned payers and all reporting associated with the assigned payer:

                General responsibilities include:              

  1. Following company collection procedures and guidelines in regards to phone calls and correspondence
  2. Establish payment plans on past due accounts
  3. Track all private pay accounts for all facilities and notify management of potential collection issues.
  4. Prepare and schedule AR meetings with all of the facilities
  5. Respond to correspondence received from residents and their families
  6. Audit all credit balances and determine whom payment should go to
  7. Gather documentation for accounts turned into collections/attorney
  1. Responsible for Office cleaning duties per the posted cleaning rotation.
  2. Responsible for backing staff positions and phone responsibilities as assigned.
  3. Responsible for reports, projects, and other clerical duties as may be assigned by the Regional Business Services Manager.

 

Job Requirements

Education:  Bachelor's Degree (preferred not required) prefer job knowledge equivalency

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years' experience in an office setting with progressive knowledge in record keeping or bookkeeping.

Or, a combination of education and experience which would provide the specialized knowledge required for the position.
